Weather Update
Attention all Fijians! If you’re planning to bring your sun hat out anytime soon, it might just have to stay a bit dusty. A trusty old trough of low pressure has decided to hang out over our lovely islands, and it brought along its cloud friends. So, expect a sprinkle of showers hanging out like uninvited guests for the next few days.
Now, before you get too cozy with your umbrella, let’s break it down for the forecast until midnight tomorrow. We’re looking at occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms especially over the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu, and the smaller islands nearby. So if you find yourself in those areas, keep an eye on the skies—they might be putting on quite the electrifying show!
Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, prepare for a potential heavy downpour in the afternoon or evening, and while we’re on the subject, don’t forget about the possibility of chaos as localised heavy falls could lead to some unexpected and thrilling flash floods in low-lying areas.
Sailing enthusiasts, be mindful of those moderate southeast to northwest winds, which might just decide to flair up your sailing journey. The seas will be moderate, so do watch out for a little roughness out there.
Looking ahead to Wednesday, we see more of the same. Expect occasional showers with a sprinkle of thunderstorms here and there, particularly over places like Lau, Lomaiviti, and those luscious Yasawa and Mamanuca islands. Bring along those ‘thunderstorm dance moves’ for a little afternoon or evening entertainment over Viti Levu and Vanua Levu!
Let’s get a little closer to home now:
– In Navua, Suva, and Nausori, prepare for more showers and the odd rumble of thunder.
– Nadi, Lautoka, and Ba will see some cloudy periods with showers that will decide to really come to the party in the afternoon but will wrap up by tomorrow morning.
– Sigatoka and Coral Coast folks will also feel like they’re living in a cloud, but once again, the showers will ease up for a calmer Wednesday.
– In Tavua and Rakiraki, expect the occasional thunderstorm companionship with your showers.
And for those in Labasa and Savusavu, you aren’t escaping the showers either—be ready for a wet pattern to continue.
Over on Rotuma, things will appear a little drier, apart from brief showers. The moderate easterly winds will keep things interesting as well.
Overall, keep your umbrellas handy and your spirits high; it looks like Mother Nature is up to her usual tricks, undoubtedly ensuring we’re all well-watered while we await sunnier days!
