Weather Update

Hello, dear weather enthusiasts! Gather ‘round as we dish out the latest meteorological gossip straight from the National Weather Forecasting Centre – and trust us, it’s juicier than a ripe mango!

Listen up, folks – a HEAVY RAIN WARNING is still strutting its stuff across the Western Division, Yasawa and Mamanuca Groups, Kadavu, and several of their tiny island buddies. And guess what? The rest of Fiji has jumped on the rain train too! So, grab your galoshes and practice your best “I love the rain” dance.

Hold onto your umbrellas because there’s a FLASH FLOOD ALERT in the Western Division from Sigatoka to Nadi, Lautoka, Ba, Tavua, and Rakiraki. Keep in mind, it’s only a few hours before your backyard becomes the next tropical lagoon!

But wait, there’s more drama! A STRONG WIND WARNING is still howling for land areas in the Western Division, Yasawa and Mamanuca, Kadavu, and even the far reaches of Macuata, Bua, Taveuni, and their little neighbors. If you’ve got a kite lying around, now might be a good time to give it a go – just don’t be surprised when it decides to fly off into the sunset!

Now, onto our very special weather guests: Tropical Cyclone URMIL is making a guest appearance over Vanuatu, planning a little move southeast, which means we’ll be in for some gusty company tonight.

Let’s get to the juicy forecast for the Fiji group till midnight tomorrow:

Western Division (including Yasawa and Mamanuca Groups), Kadavu, and nearby islands: Expect a blustery mix of north to northwest winds, picking up their game with average speeds of 45 km/hr (with gusts that might just whisk you off your feet at 75 km/hr). Rain? Oh yes! You’ll be dodging raindrops like it’s a game of skip rope!

Macuata and Bua Province: Same fun and games with the winds, just a tad more manageable at 40 km/hr with gusts hitting 60 km/hr.

Everywhere else? Just a casual round of gusty northwesterly winds and a sprinkle of rain, with a chance of thunderstorms joining the party. Don’t forget your raincoat – it could get heavy at times!

Looking ahead to Monday: the Western Division and its entourage will keep the rain going strong, with heavy downpours and possible flash flooding for our low-lying friends. Just your typical Fiji Monday, right? Expect those blustery winds again, adding to the delightful chaotic weather symphony.

For Navua / Suva / Nausori: Rainy fun continues! Expect heavy showers and possible thunderstorms – the weather gods have decided it’s a great day for rain!

Now, if you’re in Sigatoka, Lautoka, Ba, Taveuni, or anywhere else, get ready for the wind and rain combo. Think of it as nature’s way of giving you an extra cuddle, but maybe not the cozy kind.

And let’s not forget about our lovely Rotuma! Heavy rain alerts are unfolding there too. With occasional downpours and a wind that likes to show off its gusty side, you might just need to trade your sandals for a pair of floaties!

So, hang in there, stay dry, and remember, every cloud has a silver lining… right before it releases a monsoon! Ready or not, here comes the rain!
