Families in Fiji are set to experience a welcome reduction in supermarket prices this week, as the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC) has announced a drop in Rewa Butter prices effective tomorrow. This price adjustment comes in the wake of an eight percent decline in the cost of imported raw butter.
Under the revised pricing, the 125-gram pack of Rewa Butter will now retail at $3.58, a decrease from $3.91. Meanwhile, the 250-gram pack will be reduced to $7.12 from $7.77, and the 500-gram pack will now cost $14.28, down from $15.58.
The FCCC explained that the global reduction in butter prices, particularly in major dairy-producing regions such as New Zealand and Europe, has contributed to this local price adjustment. They noted that local butter prices are influenced by various factors including import costs, freight charges, and exchange rates. The Commission is committed to conducting regular reviews to ensure that consumers benefit from lower costs when they arise.
Furthermore, the FCCC will continue its efforts to monitor market prices closely, ensuring that retailers comply with the newly established rates. This proactive approach aims to protect consumers and maintain fair pricing in the Fijian market, providing families with some financial relief during challenging economic times.
