Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka announced that Fiji is officially bidding to host the 2031 Pacific Games. During his speech at the 2023 Fiji Sports Awards held at HFC Bank Stadium, he confirmed that a submission has been made to host this regional athletics event through the Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee (FASANOC).
Mr. Rabuka mentioned that FASANOC will present Fiji’s bid in Palau next month. He emphasized the People’s Coalition Government’s ongoing commitment to enhancing sports development across all levels.
“We will continue to invest in our athletes, enhance our sports infrastructure, and promote inclusivity in sports,” he stated. He added that it is crucial to provide opportunities for all Fijians, regardless of gender, ethnicity, or ability, to engage in sports and chase their aspirations.
