Fiji has officially been chosen to host the OFC Futsal Men’s Cup 2025, a decision made following logistical issues that caused the tournament’s relocation from the Solomon Islands. The announcement was made by the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC), confirming that the event will take place at the Vodafone Arena in Suva from September 20 to 24, 2025.
OFC stated that the decision was influenced by logistical considerations concerning the relevant member associations, noting that Honiara is preparing to host the Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting during a similar timeframe, which could strain local resources.
In appreciation of the Solomon Islands Football Federation’s support for futsal in the region, OFC expressed its gratitude despite the switch in hosting rights. The Fiji Football Association (FFA) will now oversee preparations for what is anticipated to be a successful tournament.
This event adds to Fiji’s growing prominence in futsal, as the country is also scheduled to host the OFC Futsal Men’s Champions League from November 16 to 23, further solidifying its role as a hub for the sport in the region. Such tournaments not only enhance Fiji’s international sports standing but also create opportunities for local fans to experience competitive futsal and engage with visiting international teams.
As more details regarding the match schedule and participating teams are forthcoming, this development promises an exciting atmosphere for players and fans alike, fostering a deeper appreciation and engagement with futsal in Fiji and the wider Oceania region.
