Former Fisheries and Forestry permanent secretary Atelaite Rokosuka has been appointed as the head of the Fiji Learning Institute for Public Service. This significant move was announced by Public Service Commission chairperson Luke Rokovada, who emphasized the importance of leadership transitions within the government.

In addition to Rokosuka’s appointment, several other key changes have taken place within the public sector. Eseta Nadakuitavuki, who previously served as the permanent secretary for the Ministry of Women, has been reassigned to the Ministry of Information, further highlighting the government’s commitment to enhancing operational efficiency across ministries.

Selina Kuruleca, the permanent secretary for Justice, is set to expand her role by assuming the position of acting permanent secretary for Women, Children, and Social Protection starting January 19, while still overseeing responsibilities at the Ministry of Justice. This dual role reflects the government’s strategy to ensure continuity and stability in leadership.

Furthermore, Peni Sikivou has been named the acting permanent secretary for Commerce and Business Development, taking over from Shaheen Ali, whose contract has concluded. These changes are part of a broader restructuring effort aimed at optimizing the effectiveness of public service.

Mr. Rokovada noted that these adjustments were made in consultation with Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, showcasing a collaborative approach to governance. This proactive reorganization within Fiji’s public service is expected to foster improved performance while addressing the dynamic needs of the community.
