The Fiji Police Force is initiating a recall of retired or resigned officers aged between 30 and 60 to bolster its ranks for project staff positions. This initiative aims to fill key roles such as assistant superintendent of police, inspector, sergeant, and corporal.
To be eligible, applicants must have previously served in the police force, stipulating requirements such as a minimum of 15 years of service as a detective in the Criminal Investigations Department, completion of the CID Level 2 course, and a preference for those who have also completed the Level 3 advanced course. Additionally, applicants must be free from any criminal investigations by law enforcement agencies and possess a doctor’s certification attesting to their physical and mental fitness.
Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu highlighted that this recall is part of the effort to address skill gaps and enhance the investigation of complex cases. This strategic move aligns with the police force’s ongoing commitment to improving operational effectiveness and upholding community safety standards.
Previously, the Fiji Police Force had announced measures to recruit experienced former officers to form specialized task forces dedicated to resolving cold cases, which underscores ongoing efforts to leverage the experience of retirees in tackling various crime issues.
