Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has taken steps to ease the growing public concerns regarding the potential resurgence of iTaukei ethno-nationalism, assuring all communities that their rights and interests are safeguarded under his administration. In a recent speech delivered during the opening of the G S Raj Supermarket in Rakiraki, he urged Fijians to remain united as the festive season approaches, promoting a message of joy, cooperation, and goodwill among all ethnic groups.

Addressing the public’s anxiety surrounding ethnic tensions, the Prime Minister firmly rejected assertions of rising nationalism. “You do not have anything to worry about as long as we are in control,” he stated, emphasizing the government’s commitment to maintaining stability and inclusiveness across Fiji.

He highlighted the positive outcomes that have emerged from collaboration, encouraging citizens to reflect on these fruits of unity as a model that can be replicated in all provinces. Rabuka urged everyone to embody the spirit of Christmas, celebrating values of unity, loyalty, and joy, while fostering harmony within their communities. This call for togetherness is a reassurance that, under his leadership, diverse ethnicities can coexist peacefully, promoting a hopeful future for all Fijians.
