Fiji Men’s Netball Makes History with Stunning Victory in Singapore!

The Crest Fiji men’s netball team has made history by clinching the Men’s Nations Series title in Singapore, marking their inaugural victory in an international tournament. The team showcased resilience as they came from behind to secure a narrow 55-54 win over the Australia Under-23 side, successfully avenging an earlier defeat of 48-60 against the same team during the pool match stage.

Throughout the tournament, Fiji displayed impressive performances. They commenced the pool stage with a solid 47-36 victory over the England Trailblazers, followed by a commanding 57-38 win against New Zealand. Continuing their strong showing, they defeated the hosts 62-27 and concluded the pool round with a decisive 82-20 victory over Hong Kong. Their consistent performances propelled them into the semifinals, where they overcame England with another strong 62-27 win, ultimately securing a spot in the final.

This triumph is particularly significant as it marks the first international tour for a Fiji men’s netball team since the 2004 International Men’s Netball Championship held in Melbourne, Australia. The captain, Kitione Waqavonovono, along with vice captain Joseva Nawaqa, joyfully celebrated their historic win over Australia, embodying the pride and spirit of Fijian netball.
