Fiji Forecast Tuesday, April 28, 2026: Cloudy Periods with Showers and Afternoon Thunderstorms, Heavy Falls Likely Across Most Islands

Storm clouds looming over a lush village in Fiji.

Issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi at 10:45am on Tuesday, 28 April 2026 — cloudy periods with brief showers will affect several parts of Fiji through to midnight tomorrow, while most other areas stay mainly fine with only isolated afternoon or evening showers. Isolated thunderstorms with heavy falls are likely during the afternoon and evening in those unsettled areas. Winds are expected to be moderate from the southeast and seas moderate for most waters.

Cloudy periods with brief showers are forecast for Serua‑Namosi, Navua‑Suva‑Nausori, Tailevu‑Naitasiri‑Ra, Cakaudrove and southern Bua, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands. Elsewhere, conditions will generally be fine apart from isolated afternoon or evening showers. Many of the exposed and inland areas listed may see locally heavy downpours in isolated thunderstorms.

Local centre details show little change through tonight and tomorrow. Navua, Suva and Nausori can expect cloudy periods with brief showers and the chance of afternoon or evening thunderstorms producing heavy falls (today’s maximum around 31°C; tomorrow’s low about 23°C and high about 31°C). Similar conditions and temperatures are forecast for Natadradave/Korovou, Savusavu, Nabouwalu, Taveuni, the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, and Kadavu. The Yasawa and Mamanuca group will remain mainly fine, with a top near 31°C.

Nadi, Lautoka and Ba should expect mainly fine weather but with the risk of afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms capable of heavy rain; today’s maximum is near 33°C with a similar range tomorrow (overnight lows around 23°C). Sigatoka and the Coral Coast, Tavua/Rakiraki and Labasa are also likely to see fine conditions interrupted by afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms, with daytime temperatures in the low 30s and overnight lows about 22–23°C.

Rotuma is currently affected by a weak trough of low pressure and can expect cloudy periods with some showers and possible isolated thunderstorms. Winds there are likely to be moderate to fresh southeasterlies and seas moderate to rough. Mariners and beach users should note the rougher conditions around Rotuma, while everyone in areas prone to heavy afternoon or evening showers should take care during brief but intense downpours. The same general pattern is expected to continue into Thursday.
