Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s head coach Richard Walker is eager to showcase the talents of two new additions to his squad, Adi Salote Nailolo and Alfreda Fisher, during the upcoming HSBC Singapore 7s tournament. Both players have impressed with their performances, overcoming stiff competition to earn their spots on the team after excelling in local 7s competitions.

Transitioning from a 15s rugby background, Nailolo and Fisher have quickly adapted to the fast-paced nature of the sevens format, demonstrating remarkable skill and determination. Walker noted their strong performances at the Coral Coast 7s, with Nailolo excelling in ball carrying and maintaining her presence on the field. Fisher also stood out for her impressive contributions at the ruck, showcasing her defensive capabilities and attacking flair, reinforcing her reputation as a talented player.

At just a young age, Fisher’s experience as the youngest-ever captain of the Fijiana XV team adds valuable leadership to the squad. While she continues to adjust to this new rugby format, both players have been warmly welcomed by their teammates. Captain Verenaisi Ditavitu encouraged them to embrace this opportunity and embody the team’s spirit, emphasizing the importance of being positive role models.

Fijiana will kick off their tournament against Australia at 3:26 PM on Saturday, followed by a match against the USA at 6:30 PM and finishing pool play against Japan at 9:56 PM. With promising new talent and a strong team ethos, Fijiana is looking to make a significant impact in Singapore, providing fans with an exciting display of women’s rugby.
