A flash flood warning has been issued for the entire Fiji group, as announced by the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi at 5 AM today. This alert is due to an active trough of low pressure, which is bringing significant cloud cover and rainfall across the nation.

Weather officials indicate that a shallow low pressure system situated to the west of Viti Levu is responsible for directing moist winds from the north and northwest into much of Fiji. As a result, residents can expect heavy rainfall, squally thunderstorms, and strong winds to persist throughout the weekend.

Authorities have cautioned that this heavy rainfall may lead to flash flooding, especially in areas prone to such conditions, including drainage systems, small streams, low-water bridges, and properties located in low-lying regions.

Additionally, the tide information reveals that Lautoka experienced a high tide of 1.29 meters at 4:43 AM, while Suva recorded a high tide of 1.28 meters at 5:15 AM.

Officials are urging the public to remain vigilant and take the necessary precautions to ensure their safety during these potentially hazardous weather conditions. Keeping informed and prepared can help communities navigate this challenging climate situation effectively.
