Francis Puleiwai has resigned from her position as Acting Deputy Commissioner for the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC). Her resignation is effective immediately after a meeting with the Judicial Services Commission.
Puleiwai expressed her inability to continue working with FICAC under the current circumstances. She was appointed to her role in December of last year.
Her resignation follows her recent actions against the newly appointed FICAC Commissioner, Barbara Malimali, who was questioned regarding allegations of abuse of office. Malimali was interrogated and subsequently released by midday yesterday, accompanied by her legal team. When asked for her comments, Malimali declined to provide any statements at this time.
