Vuate Karawalevu, the newest addition to Fijian Drua, is enthusiastic about his journey in rugby, which has taken him to one of the premier clubs in the nation. The 23-year-old, hailing from Dravuwalu Village in Kadavu, transitioned to the Drua from the Waratahs. He believes his move was guided by a higher power and reflects on the challenges he faced while trying to secure a spot in the Waratahs.

Karawalevu shared, “I started with the Waratahs, and was just not eligible to be selected, but God always sees people that are working hard.” He added that discussing his potential return to the Drua with his parents was a significant factor, as they supported his desire to come back home and represent the team.

Settling in, Karawalevu has quickly bonded with the squad, noting that many teammates are familiar faces from past experiences, including their time together on the Flying Fijians tour and in the Fiji Schoolboys set-up. He expressed his readiness to contribute across the back three positions, stating that he enjoys playing fullback but is also open to taking on the wing role as needed.

Karawalevu’s positive spirit and sense of belonging highlight the importance of community in sports. His return to the Drua symbolizes not just a personal achievement but also an opportunity to inspire others, particularly young athletes from Kadavu and beyond, to pursue their dreams in rugby.

Overall, Karawalevu’s journey is a testament to resilience and faith, showcasing how perseverance can lead to fulfilling opportunities.
