Former CEO of Fiji Broadcasting Corporation Pte Limited, Riyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, and current CFO Vimlesh Sagar have been re-charged by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) over allegations related to the procurement of a Volkswagen Touareg valued at $207,470.00. The two men are currently in custody and are expected to appear before the Suva Magistrates Court later today.
Sayed-Khaiyum faces two charges: abuse of office and general dishonesty, while Sagar is charged with one count of general dishonesty causing a loss. These new charges come after previous allegations were withdrawn by FICAC in May 2025 as the case approached pre-trial.
This scenario follows previous claims where Sayed-Khaiyum was accused of bypassing due processes and making decisions detrimental to the company’s financial welfare. Specifically, he was alleged to have incurred a loss of approximately $84,470 for the organization by not following proper tender procedures for the vehicle acquisition.
