Empowering Parents: The Key to Shaping Future Generations

Championing Children’s Futures: A Call to Action for Parents

Ratu Viliame Seruvakula, the Chair of the Great Council of Chiefs, is putting a strong focus on the well-being of children during his visits to rural areas, particularly emphasizing the crucial role parents play in their upbringing. Recently, during a visit to Kadavu Island, he urged parents to prioritize their children’s education and future, highlighting the need to maintain traditional cultural values in the face of growing external influences.

This commitment to children’s welfare aligns with Ratu Viliame’s earlier statements made at significant events, including a passing-out parade at Ratu Sukuna Memorial School. He highlighted the pressing issues that children encounter today, such as the threats of sexual violence, drug abuse, and trafficking. Ratu Viliame encouraged parents to avoid distractions that could compromise their responsibilities, such as excessive socializing and unhealthy forms of stress relief.

Looking ahead, Ratu Viliame plans to continue his advocacy in the Northern Division, where he aims to reinforce the importance of active parenting and community engagement in shaping a brighter future for the youth. His vision is a hopeful one, promoting the idea that with strong family support and dedicated community involvement, children can grow into resilient individuals equipped to face society’s challenges effectively.
