Elia Canakaivata, the number eight for Swire Shipping Fijian Drua, reflected on a challenging start to the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season following last Saturday’s defeat to Moana Pasifika. Despite the loss, what weighed on his mind more than the score was the feeling of disappointing the dedicated fans who packed Churchill Park in Lautoka to support their team.

After enduring a difficult season the previous year, Canakaivata had anticipated a decrease in fan attendance. The robust turnout, however, was a pleasant surprise, reaffirming the loyal backing the Drua enjoys from its supporters. He took the opportunity to express gratitude for their commitment, acknowledging the importance of their presence and support during the match.

“I am thankful for your support and we are sorry for not being able to give you the win. But we will do better,” Canakaivata stated, reassuring fans of the team’s commitment to improvement as the season unfolds.

The Fijian Drua is set to take on the Waratahs this coming Friday in Sydney at 8:35 PM, a match that will be broadcast live on FBC sports. As the team looks ahead, there remains a strong sense of determination to uplift their performance and honor the faithful supporters who continue to cheer them on.
