Fijian sprinter Braelynn Yee has secured the 2025 Griffith Asia Business Internship in recognition of her exemplary academic and athletic achievements. A former student of Saint Joseph’s Secondary School, Yee is currently benefiting from the Oceania Athletics and Academic Scholarship while pursuing a Bachelor of Business at Griffith University on the Gold Coast.
Her internship, slated for six weeks in Seoul, South Korea, from November 3 to December 12, 2025, represents a significant milestone in her career. Throughout this period, Yee will remain a full-time student at Griffith and will receive academic credit for successfully completing the internship.
In addition to her academic pursuits, Yee is dedicated to maintaining her athletic training through a structured program developed by her coach. This commitment reflects the ethos of the Oceania Athletics & Academics Scholarship, which aims to support young athletes in balancing their dual aspirations of academic and athletic excellence.
Athletics Fiji has praised Yee’s accomplishments, highlighting her as a role model for young athletes in the region, especially as Fiji’s athletics community gears up for upcoming events. As the country prepares for the Pacific Mini Games scheduled for June 29 to July 9, Yee’s presence is sure to inspire her peers, particularly as athletes like her continue to demonstrate that it is possible to excel both on the track and in the classroom.
The support for athletes in Fiji is becoming increasingly robust, with organizations like the Fiji Sports Council investing in emerging talents to ensure they are equipped for future competitions. This nurturing environment reflects a broader commitment to fostering excellence in athletics, aspiring not only for medals but also to inspire the next generation of sports stars.
Yee’s journey exemplifies the promising future of Fijian athletics, where commitment, perseverance, and a solid support network are critical for success. With educational and athletic opportunities continuing to grow, the hope for a bright athletic future for Fiji uplifts not just the athletes but the entire community.
