Two prominent Australian boxers will participate in the South Pacific Boxing Promotions event scheduled for October 26 at Prince Charles Park in Nadi. This announcement was made by promoter Fred Chand after the International Boxing Organisation (IBO) approved the matches.
In the main event, Winston Hill, the IBO Asia Pacific and Fiji super welterweight champion, will face the powerful Lachlan O’Shea. O’Shea, a former Queensland titleholder with the Australian National Boxing Federation, previously pushed Australian welterweight champion Joel Taylor to the limit.
Chand expressed that both IBO title bouts will feature world-class athletes. Additionally, local fighter Sebastian ‘The Sniper’ Singh will have a significant opportunity to enhance his global rankings. Singh currently holds the World Boxing Foundation (WBF) Asia Pacific cruiserweight title and will compete against unbeaten Sydney-based ‘King’ Tonga Tongotongo for the vacant IBO Asia Pacific cruiserweight title.
“To be the best in the world, you’ve got to fight the best. We’re grateful to Sebastian for seizing this opportunity,” Chand remarked. According to Box Rec, Tongotonga has a perfect record, winning all eight of his professional bouts.
Chand mentioned that they are finalizing the undercard and will provide an official announcement following the Boxing Commission of Fiji’s approval. Moreover, SPBP director Mohammed Shameem stated his plans to bring in renowned Australian ring announcer Steve Peios and a professional boxing referee for the event.
