The opening round of the Western Secondary School Rugby League competition kicked off with great excitement as Ba Methodist High School demonstrated its dominance across all age groups in the Ba/Tavua zone. The school achieved a stunning clean sweep, securing victories in the U15, U17, and U19 matches, establishing itself as a powerhouse early in the competition.

In the U15 category, Ba Methodist showcased their strength by overpowering DAV College of Ba with an impressive 20–0 win. The under-17 team was even more formidable, routing DAV College with a decisive score of 58–0, highlighting their exceptional attacking prowess and solid defensive strategies. Completing the day’s successes, the U19 squad delivered a commanding performance against Nilsen College, securing a 32–6 victory that underscored their well-rounded skills and game structure.

Much of Ba Methodist’s triumph can be attributed to the robust influence of players from the Ba Rugby Academy, whose superior fitness, skill level, and determination were evident in all matches.

In other matches, Nilsen College clinched an 18–8 victory over Tavua District School in the U15 grade, while Tavua College narrowly defeated Ra High School 18–10 in an intense contest. The league’s opening round has set an exhilarating tone for the competition, with many teams eager to challenge Ba Methodist’s early supremacy. The promising performances hint at a thrilling season ahead for all involved.
