ANZ Welcomes Martin Beattie as New Country Head for Timor-Leste

ANZ has appointed Martin Beattie as the Country Head for ANZ Timor-Leste, pending regulatory approvals. Beattie will report to Sarah Stubbings, the ANZ Regional Executive for the Pacific, and will oversee the bank’s commercial operations in Timor-Leste.

Stubbings emphasized the significance of the Asia-Pacific region in ANZ’s international strategy, noting that Timor-Leste presents a vital and expanding market. She expressed her enthusiasm for collaborating with Beattie to enhance the bank’s presence in the area.

Having spent 15 years at ANZ, Beattie has held various roles, including Specialist Property Manager and State Manager for Commercial Brokers covering Western Australia, South Australia, and the Northern Territory. He previously served as the Country Head for the Solomon Islands, where he was commended for his leadership.

Stubbings praised Beattie’s extensive experience of over 18 years in diverse finance and banking positions, both in Australia and internationally. She highlighted his commitment to community engagement and his eagerness to contribute positively to the business in Timor-Leste.

Beattie is set to arrive in Timor-Leste in October and will officially assume his role as Country Head once regulatory approvals are finalized. In the interim, Joao Ferreira, the Head of Commercial for Timor-Leste, will take on the Acting Country Head position, succeeding current Country Head Bernadette Shaw, who is departing in early October. Stubbings expressed gratitude toward Shaw for her dedication to customers and the community in Timor-Leste and wished her success in her new role as Country Head of Laos.
