31 Vanuatu Nationals Presented With Certificates of Completion on Project Management

Participants of the Certificate IV Project Management course with the Regional Coordinator for USAID/Pacific Islands and Mongolia, Mr. Sean Callahan at the University of the South Pacific campus in Port Vila, Vanuatu.

Mr. Sean Callahan, Regional Coordinator, USAID/ Pacific Islands and Mongolia, on behalf of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Ready Project, today presented certificates of completion to participants who attended the first Project Management course sponsored by USAID Ready in Vanuatu.

The delivery of the training course is part of USAID Ready’s partnership with the University of the South Pacific to provide short courses in Project Management to priority Pacific Island Countries. The Certificate IV program in Project Management Practice was the first to be delivered in Vanuatu under the Letter of Agreement signed with USP in August 2017.  The course was attended by a country cohort consisting of mid-level managers of Government departments, including member of the National Advisory Board for Climate Change, NGOs, and representatives from the private sector, who have an interest in improving their project management skills for the successful design and implementation of climate resilience projects. This was the first training event sponsored by USAID’s Ready Project in Vanuatu.

The Certificate IV program in Project Management is a four-unit course that includes a 5-day workshop for the first two units followed by two months of online study and another 5-day workshop and two months of online study to complete the final two units and the course. The course will be rolled out across two more Pacific Island Countries before the end of the year. The course is internationally recognized and can lead to membership in the U.S. Project Management Institute.

USAID Ready is a five-year Pacific-wide regional project, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by AECOM, a U.S.-based institutional contractor with worldwide experience implementing environment programs.
