With over ten years of experience as a civil servant and a robust background in forest management, Moce holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, specializing in Environmental Resilience from the University of New England in Australia. He completed his studies through an Australian Award Scholarship and graduated in 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic, a unique accomplishment marked by a ceremony at the Sawani border.
During his career, Mr. Moce served as the team leader for the Conservation Unit under the Ministry of Forestry, overseeing national parks and executing ecotourism projects, showcasing his commitment to environmental sustainability. Recently, he stepped away from government service to return to his village to care for his elderly parents, underscoring his dedication to family and community.
Known as Bis Moce on social media, he has been actively highlighting grassroots challenges facing rural and maritime Fiji, showcasing a keen understanding of the day-to-day struggles encountered by those in these areas. “Utilizing social media empowers me to create positive dialogue and bring critical issues to the table for both the government and NGOs,” he stated. His vision emphasizes the importance of investing in rural development as key to establishing a sustainable economy in Fiji.
Moce’s commitment to community and education aligns with a growing recognition across Fiji of the need for youth involvement and a sustainable approach to development, reflecting similar sentiments expressed by other leaders in the region, such as Minister Mosese Bulitavu, who also advocates for environmental and community engagement.
His initiative presents an opportunity for a refreshing perspective in Fijian politics, as he aims to reshape policies that benefit younger generations and rural communities. Mr. Moce’s journey thus far embodies a hopeful narrative for progress and positive change in Fiji’s political landscape.
