The Insurance Association of Fiji (IAF) has launched a nationwide logo design competition aimed at young learners, emphasizing the vital role of insurance in everyday life. Open to all students from Years 5 to 13, the competition features two categories: Upper Primary (Years 5–8) and Secondary School (Years 9–13). Participants are invited to creatively express their understanding of insurance and its relevance to their families, with winners set to receive up to $1,000 in prizes, along with school merchandise, digital gadgets, and more. The winning logos will be unveiled at the IAF’s Annual Gala Awards Night.

A key feature of this initiative is a new partnership with the Fijian Broadcasting Corporation, which will promote the competition through its extensive radio and social media platforms. IAF Chairperson Avi Raju noted a significant lack of awareness about insurance, particularly among the youth, which this initiative aims to address. He highlighted that beyond offering protection against unexpected events, insurance serves as a long-term savings mechanism that can benefit future generations.

The competition not only serves as an educational tool but also aligns with a broader trend in Fiji, where competitions encourage students to engage in socially relevant issues creatively. Similar initiatives, including the National Schools Road Safety Competition, show that fostering creativity and knowledge helps cultivate a responsible, informed generation of citizens.

With submissions open until July 17, 2025, this competition represents a promising opportunity for young Fijians to express their views on insurance while contributing to important discussions about its role in society. By involving students in such initiatives, Fiji continues to nurture a culture of creativity and advocacy among its youth, paving the way for a more informed and resilient future.
