Women-led businesses that are making strides in climate action are being invited to apply for the Green Star Awards at the upcoming WIN Convention. This award seeks to recognize enterprises that are contributing significantly to environmental sustainability.
According to Dr. Swartika Nair, the Chair of the WIN Convention, the awards are designed to highlight businesses that are not just raising awareness but are actively involved in creating a greener future through innovation and strong leadership. Submissions will be evaluated by an independent panel, focusing on three critical areas: recycling and waste reduction; energy efficiency alongside renewable energy utilization; and long-term sustainability, which includes factors like biodiversity, education, research, and overall environmental responsibility.
Dr. Nair emphasized the importance of showcasing women entrepreneurs as leaders in climate initiatives, encouraging more women to come forward and gain recognition for their efforts in this crucial area. She noted, “This is the second year. Last year, we had a winner who experienced a significant boost in their climate efforts as a result. If you’re involved in this field, I encourage you to submit as the three areas will guide our judging criteria.”
The WIN Convention aims to place climate action and inclusive leadership at its core, ensuring that women are seen as key drivers of sustainability solutions, rather than mere participants. The Green Star Awards will be part of the WIN Convention 2026, set to take place on March 27 and 28, featuring two days of empowerment, collaboration, and proactive discussions.
This initiative not only underscores the critical role women play in addressing environmental challenges but also fosters an inspiring community dedicated to making a tangible impact on the planet’s future. By recognizing and celebrating these efforts, the WIN Convention aims to motivate even more women-led enterprises to step into the spotlight and drive meaningful change.
