Extra Bula FC’s head coach, Stéphane Auvray, has addressed the extensive VAR review that led to Solomon Kings’ second goal from the penalty spot during their recent match in the OFC Pro League. The decision was made after a prolonged check that interrupted the game’s momentum at a critical juncture.
Although Auvray refrained from directly criticizing the outcome, he expressed his sentiments regarding the use of technology in pivotal moments of the match. He remarked, “Whether it’s for us or not for us, I told the referee, I’m a big fan of human beings. So I don’t mind somebody making a mistake. So the momentum of the game keeps going. So that’s my opinion, whether it’s for us or the other team.” His comments underline a preference for on-field decision-making, even if it means tolerating occasional errors to sustain the game’s flow.
Looking ahead, Bula FC is set to regroup and refocus as they prepare to face South Island United in their upcoming OFC Pro League clash. Auvray and his team will aim to utilize this experience to strengthen their performance in future matches.
