U.S. President Donald Trump announced plans to engage in discussions with both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy on Monday, following significant but challenging talks that occurred in Turkey. During these discussions in Turkey, which lasted around one hour and forty minutes, a senior Ukrainian official indicated that Russia has laid out new preconditions for a ceasefire, demanding that Ukraine withdraw its troops from territories Moscow claims as its own. Subsequently, Trump posted on Truth Social that he intends to address the ongoing conflict, stating, “THE SUBJECTS OF THE CALL WILL BE, STOPPING THE ‘BLOODBATH’ THAT IS KILLING, ON AVERAGE, MORE THAN 5000 RUSSIAN AND UKRAINIAN SOLDIERS A WEEK, AND TRADE.” He expressed hope that Monday could mark a productive day, culminating in a ceasefire to end what he termed a “very violent war.”
