Tragic Drowning: Community Urged to Keep Children Safe This Cyclone Season

A tragic incident occurred yesterday in Waidra, Baulevu, where a 5-year-old boy drowned in the Rewa River. His body was discovered this morning. Senior Superintendent of Police Joape Cakacaka, the Divisional Police Commander for the Eastern Division, reported that the boy was swimming in the river when the tragedy took place. He urged parents to closely supervise their children, especially with the cyclone season approaching and school holidays imminent. SSP Cakacaka expressed gratitude to the Goneturaga na Vunivalu of Kasavu and local communities for their efforts in the search for the boy’s body.
