Sydney Suva triumphed over Labasa with a 2-0 victory in an exciting final to claim the Rams Group of Companies 10th Sanatan World Cup.
Young talent Marcus Lal scored the opening goal for Suva early in the match but missed a subsequent penalty kick. Labasa’s Anish Khem and Ashnil Raju worked hard to bring their team back into contention; however, Suva’s defense, anchored by goalkeeper Jerome Narayan, along with Krishneel Dutt and Kishan Sami, proved too strong.
The match was effectively settled when former Nadi striker Shivneel Pillay scored a brilliant goal midway through the second half, and Labasa faced a setback when Melvin Mani was sent off, leaving them with ten players.
In individual accolades, Narayan received the Golden Glove award, while Lal earned the Golden Boot after scoring seven goals throughout the tournament. Pranit Singh was recognized as the Most Valuable Player of the World Cup, and Sydney Suva was awarded the title of Best Disciplined Team.
