The Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa recently contributed $20,000 to Project Bula Mai, fulfilling its corporate social responsibility commitment and supporting a significant cause. The official cheque handover took place at the resort on December 2.
Project Bula Mai organized a Style Fiji fashion show the previous weekend, showcasing nine local designers. The funds raised from this event will be combined with Sofitel’s contribution and donated to the Fiji Cancer Society, the charity partner of Style Fiji.
Vincent Macquet, the area general manager, expressed pride in their long-standing partnership with Style Fiji, stating, “Over the years, the team at Style Fiji has done exceptional work.” He highlighted the resort’s commitment to supporting grassroots organizations and its dedication to making a positive impact in the community.
Marlene Vuniwaqa, co-founder of Project Bula Mai, noted that Sofitel has increased its sponsorship annually. She explained the organization’s strategy of using fashion and entertainment to raise funds for charity. This year marked the third consecutive year of support for the Fiji Cancer Society, with around 380 attendees at the fashion show.
Vuniwaqa emphasized the importance of cash donations, acknowledging the difficulty in securing such support. She praised Sofitel for its willingness to provide cash contributions, which will be directly allocated to the Fiji Cancer Society.
This partnership between the Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa and Project Bula Mai not only highlights the spirit of giving in the community but also underscores the impact that local businesses can have in supporting vital causes. The continued collaboration fosters a greater sense of social responsibility and encourages others to contribute to meaningful initiatives.
In summary, the recent collaboration between Sofitel Fiji Resort and Project Bula Mai demonstrates a successful blend of business and charity, reinforcing the importance of community support.
