Minister for Youth and Sports Jese Saukuru has expressed growing concern over the misuse of social media platforms. He noted that there have been multiple reports indicating that social media is being utilized as a tool for personal vendettas and defamation.
“The digital landscape, while providing unprecedented connectivity and opportunities for dialogue, has also become a battleground where misinformation thrives,” Mr. Saukuru stated. He emphasized that defamation spread through social media can have severe consequences for individuals.
“False accusations and malicious gossip can harm reputations, jeopardize professional relationships, and inflict emotional distress,” he added. Mr. Saukuru encouraged young people to leverage social media to foster positive change within society.
