Weather Update – Saturday, May 10, 2025
Good morning, Fiji! Grab your umbrellas and maybe a kayak, because we’re in for a wet adventure! The weather fairy has decided to sprinkle the whole nation with her heavy rains, so be prepared for some serious sogginess!
We’ve got a heavy rain warning that’s as serious as your auntie’s “no dessert until you finish your vegetables” face. Plus, strong winds are waltzing through the coastal areas of Eastern and Southern Viti Levu, from Sigatoka to Coral Coast and keeping things breezy all the way to Rakiraki. So if you have any loose garden furniture, it might just join the neighbors for a tea party!
Today, expect those winds to gust up to 46 km/hr. That’s fast enough to give your hair a new, wind-swept look — if only you could find your hair tie! The seas will be rough, which might be bad news for any fishing plans or for those keen on a relaxing swim. Remember, it’s definitely a “stay on the shore” kind of day!
There’s occasional rain in the forecast—heavy at times, with a side of thunderstorms, because why not? It seems like Mother Nature has planned an all-day rain dance, and she’s not shy about showing off her moves. Be extra careful in low-lying areas, as we might see flash flooding trying to audition for the next big water feature!
Now let’s break it down area by area:
For Navua, Suva, and Nausori: Expect a drenching of occasional rain and a sprinkle of thunder—it’s a good day to stay inside and binge-watch your favorite shows.
Heading over to Sigatoka and Coral Coast: Similar vibes with occasional rain, heavy at times, and who could forget those delightful thunderstorms?
The same goes for Nadi, Lautoka, Ba, Tavua, and Rakiraki: A little rain here, a little rain there—just a typical “let’s get soaked” kind of Saturday!
In Labasa and Savusavu: You guessed it—occasional rain with some thunder crunching along for good measure. Maybe it’s a great time to perfect your indoor hobby?
For the Yasawa and Mamanuca group, as well as Kadavu and Lau/Lomaiviti: Buckle up for some rain and scattered thunderstorms! But fear not; the raindrops are just nature’s way of saying, “I care.”
And last but not least, for Rotuma: A low-pressure trough is hanging around and bringing its cloud buddies. Expect some heavy rain and those mischievous thunderstorms to spice things up.
So, whether you’re planning to stay dry indoors or embrace your inner duck outside, make sure to keep your spirits high and your phone charged! Happy soggy Saturday!
