Artika Sharma, Ajay Kumar, Ravinal Ravinesh Anand, and Sanjay Kumar appeared in the Lautoka Magistrates Court today, facing charges related to an alleged kidnapping involving a 20-year-old woman in Saweni last month. The court has decided to transfer the case to the High Court in Lautoka.

All four individuals have been remanded in custody and are set to return to court on March 9. The allegations stem from an incident on the morning of February 25, 2026, when it is claimed that the accused forcibly took the victim from her home following a dispute.

According to police reports, Artika Sharma, 25, is accused of forcing the victim into her vehicle, while her three accomplices allegedly assaulted a relative who attempted to intervene. The victim reportedly managed to escape from the vehicle, sustaining injuries in the process.

Sharma is facing multiple charges, including one count of kidnapping, one count of damaging property, and one count of an act intended to cause grievous harm. Her three alleged accomplices, all residents of Saweni, have been charged with kidnapping, assault causing actual bodily harm, and criminal intimidation.

This case is being closely monitored as it progresses to the High Court, bringing attention to issues of public safety and the serious nature of violent crimes within the community. The upcoming court date will reveal further developments in this troubling incident.
