Suva Rugby Union match commissioner Mesake Tudrau is urging the community to come out in greater numbers to support grassroots rugby during the ongoing weekly competitions. Round seven of the club games commenced at Bidesi Park, but the turnout was disappointingly lower than anticipated.

Tudrau highlighted that players and teams invest substantial effort and sacrifices to prepare for each match, and the presence of fans is crucial for their motivation. He actively encouraged supporters of the Suva Rugby Union to attend matches, expressing gratitude to sponsors like FMF for their continued support.

In a positive turn of events, Tudrau pointed out an increase in the number of participating teams this season, indicating a promising growth trajectory for the competition. This growing interest reflects the community’s commitment to nurturing local talent and enhancing the rugby culture within Suva.

The Suva Rugby Union has historically played a vital role in developing young athletes in the area, with many players advancing to prominent teams, including the Fijian Drua and Flying Fijians. As the trees of community spirit and engagement bear fruit, this season serves as a beacon of hope, fostering connection and physical activity among youths.

Tudrau’s call to the public not only aims to boost attendance but also to inspire a stronger support system for local rugby, paving the way for future athletes to thrive. Engaging more fans will further promote healthy lifestyles and solidarity within the community, ensuring that rugby remains a pillar of cultural and social significance in Suva.
