Rising Star Tikoisuva Shines in Rewa’s 5-0 Triumph!

Tavaita Tikoisuva delivered an outstanding performance for the Rewa under-19 girls football team, scoring a hat-trick in their impressive 5-0 victory over Nasinu in the latest round of the Fiji Football Association’s under-19 girls youth league competition. This victory, secured last Saturday, also included two own goals from the opposing team.

Reflecting on her achievement, Tikoisuva shared her initial anxiety about the match, particularly due to the presence of new players on the team. “I was very worried about playing today because of the players and there were new players coming in,” she said. However, her confidence grew as the game progressed, leading her to express gratitude for the support she received. “Thanks to the Lord for leading us like this, I was very proud in scoring the goals with the help of the players and supporters.”

Despite their success, Tikoisuva highlighted some challenges faced by the team, such as a shortage of players attending training sessions, with only two available at times and others moving on to tertiary education. Nonetheless, she was pleased with her team’s fitness level for the match and thanked the Rewa football officials and families for their unwavering support.

At just 17 years old, Tikoisuva has already made a mark in the football scene as the youngest player on the Rewa women’s football team during last year’s Digicel Fiji Women’s Inter-District Championship.

This victory serves as a testament to the dedication and resilience of the Rewa under-19 squad, and it highlights the positive direction in which Fiji’s women’s football is heading. Like the Rewa under-16 team’s recent victories, this match illustrates the growth and potential within Rewa’s footballing ranks, contributing to a rich legacy of support and talent development in Fijian women’s sports.

In summary, Tikoisuva’s performance not only contributed to her team’s success but also emphasized the importance of teamwork, consistent training, and community support in building a competitive sports environment.
