Pacific Specialist Healthcare (PSH) Hospitals is teaming up with the Sugar Cane Growers Fund (SCGF) to offer healthcare options to over 10,500 sugarcane farmers at discounted rates. This initiative aims to enhance access to high-quality healthcare services for these essential contributors to Fiji’s economy.
The partnership was initiated during discussions over the weekend between Parvish Kumar, the founder and CEO of PSH, SCGF chairperson Ahmed Bhamji, and Fund CEO Raj Sharma. Following these talks, Bhamji and Sharma visited PSH’s hospital in Nadi, where they expressed admiration for the advanced technology and the high standards of cleanliness maintained within the facility.
Bhamji emphasized the importance of providing favorable policy adaptations to meet the needs of sugarcane growers. He noted the collective buying power and economies of scale of the industry’s more than 10,500 productive farmers, making such programs essential to maximizing their benefits.
“This program will ensure that sugarcane farmers can take advantage of the best offers available and reward their hard work,” Bhamji stated. Meanwhile, Sharma conveyed that this collaboration would significantly bolster the livelihood of sugarcane farmers.
With plans to extend healthcare access to Labasa, Sharma underscored the commitment to improve outreach programs. These initiatives are designed to enhance wellness and healthcare among cane farmers, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Kumar, who has roots in sugarcane farming, expressed his dedication to aiding the farming community of Fiji. Recognizing the ongoing struggle farmers face to access quality healthcare, he welcomed the loyalty program, affirming that farmers would now benefit from quicker and more affordable medical services.
This partnership not only highlights the acknowledgement and support for the agricultural sector but also promotes a broader commitment to improving community health, emphasizing a unified effort to sustain Fiji’s essential agricultural industry.
In summary, PSH’s collaboration with SCGF signifies a positive step forward in improving healthcare access for sugarcane farmers, reflecting a shared commitment to fostering community wellness and supporting local economies. This initiative represents hope for enhanced living standards and healthcare for farmers who have historically been the backbone of Fiji’s economy.
