Muslims across Fiji are called to embrace unity, compassion, and prayer as they mark the beginning of Ramadan, a month revered for its spiritual significance. Basheer Ahmed, the national president of the Fiji Muslim League, emphasized the importance of this period in his Ramadan message, describing it as a time for renewal and self-discipline.
Ahmed pointed out that Ramadan extends beyond simply fasting; it serves as a vital opportunity to strengthen familial and community ties. He urged the faithful to remember the essence of caring for one another, providing support to those in need, and fostering a deeper relationship with God.
He also inspired prayers for the nation, highlighting the importance of wishing prosperity upon all who reside in Fiji. “As we observe this holy month, let us also pray for our beloved Fiji for prosperity for all who call this country home,” Ahmed stated.
With Ramadan inspiring a spirit of positive action, he encouraged Muslims to let their fasting and prayers fuel contributions to their communities and the nation as a whole. During this sacred month, Muslims will partake in fasting from dawn to sunset, dedicating their time to prayer, charity, and acts of kindness.
This Ramadan season presents an opportunity for individuals to reflect on their blessings while also committing to positive actions that can lead to communal growth and harmony.
