Defending champions Queen Victoria School advanced to the semifinals of the Vodafone Deans U18 competition with a 13-6 win over Marist Brothers High School in the last quarterfinal match held at HFC Bank Stadium today.
QVS made an impressive start, scoring their first try in the 20th minute, followed by another two minutes later. This quick scoring spree allowed them to take a 13-3 lead at halftime, placing Marist into a challenging position.
Despite their early momentum, QVS was unable to extend their score in the second half as Marist strengthened their defense and managed a penalty kick that reduced the deficit to 13-6.
However, the defenses of QVS stood strong as the team displayed remarkable grit to maintain their lead. In the final moments of the game, Marist fought hard to score, but QVS held firm, preventing their opponents from adding any more points.
