The Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) has implemented temporary detour arrangements following the collapse of part of the carriageway along Queens Highway. This incident occurred earlier today, prompting immediate action to ensure traffic flow is maintained.
Currently, cars and light vehicles are being directed through a designated detour route, with teams positioned on-site to assist and guide motorists. However, for safety reasons, buses and heavy vehicles are not permitted to use this detour at this time.
To accommodate public transportation, FRA has introduced a changeover system for bus passengers. Commuters will need to cross to the opposite side of the affected area to board buses, which are being rerouted from a different endpoint.
Motorists are advised to plan their travels carefully, anticipate potential delays, and exercise caution while navigating the area. FRA urges all road users to adhere to the instructions of traffic officials as they work to ensure safety along the detour route.
This proactive approach aims to minimize disruptions and maintain essential transport services while prioritizing the safety of all road users.
