Potholes Plague Suva Bus Stand: What’s Next?

Illustration of Suva Bus Stand roads pose growing hazard for commuters, drivers

The condition of the roads at the Suva Bus Stand has become increasingly problematic for both pedestrians and bus operators. An alarming rise in potholes has made the area challenging to navigate, particularly during peak hours when traffic is heavier.

In light of these issues, the Suva City Council (SCC) has stated that repairing the roads is one of their top priorities. Tevita Boseiwaqa, the acting chief executive officer, emphasized that the council is actively coordinating with the Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) to find solutions to the problem.

“We are treating this as a priority,” Mr. Boseiwaqa stated. He reassured the public that plans for repairs are underway and will commence as soon as weather conditions improve. He noted that the recent wet weather has significantly contributed to the roads’ deterioration.

This proactive approach from the city council is a positive sign that they are committed to maintaining and improving public infrastructure. With the swift attention to the issues at the Suva Bus Stand, residents and bus operators can look forward to a safer and more navigable transportation hub in the near future.

Overall, the situation demonstrates a collaborative effort between local authorities and infrastructure providers to address citizen concerns effectively, promoting a sense of community responsibility and progress.
