The Suva Netball Association is excited to announce that the Naila Netball Club from Tailevu has officially joined their weekly competitions for the 2025 season. Coordinator Domiko Tabuarua expressed enthusiasm about the inclusion, highlighting its importance for player development across the region. “We are so happy to welcome Naila from Tailevu, and we look forward to a successful season this year,” he stated, emphasizing the positive impact of the new club on the existing ten teams in the competition.
The club tournament will showcase ten clubs competing across nine different grades, catering to participants of various ages and skill levels. This structured competition aims to build a strong foundation for emerging netball talents while fostering community spirit. Moreover, Tabuarua mentioned upcoming plans for Inter-District Championships that will involve competing with other associations later this year, positioning this club competition as an essential platform for player selection.
This year the Suva Netball Association also introduced a ‘power play’ rule, which adds excitement to the matches by allowing teams to score extra points during designated periods, reflecting growing efforts to enhance the competitive atmosphere. The integration of Naila is seen as a significant step towards elevating the sport further, joining other established teams like Lomaiviti and Rovers that have already set a high bar for competition.
With a vibrant season ahead, the addition of new clubs like Naila not only promises to improve the quality of play but also contributes to a hopeful growth trajectory for netball in Fiji. As more clubs join the fold, the anticipation builds within the community, signaling a bright future for aspiring netball athletes in the region.
