The Nausori women’s volleyball team focused on gaining valuable experience during their participation at the Vulaca Volleyball Championship, held at the FMF Gymnasium in Suva. The team showcased their skills with a commendable victory over the Mid-Central volleyball team, winning in straight sets, 25-22 and 25-14.

Team captain Selina Francis expressed her pride in the team’s performance, emphasizing their hard work and dedication during training. She recognized the competitive nature of the tournament and lauded her team for their perseverance throughout the event.

“From day one of competition was really tough, it was a big competition, and I’m really proud of the girls for their time, sacrifice, and energy during training,” said Francis. She highlighted that despite the challenges, the players fought hard in their match against Mid-Central. The final day of the competition was equally demanding, with many strong teams participating.

Francis noted that many of her teammates were participating in a major competition for the first time, and the exposure they received was invaluable. The team, based in Nakelo, Tailevu, was delighted to form a strong unit, with several girls experiencing a significant tournament for the first time.

“As a team, we viewed each match as an opportunity to learn and grow, with the goal of reaching the finals,” she stated. In addition to reflecting on their performance, Selina expressed gratitude to their supporters and families for their unwavering backing, as well as for the chance to compete in such a prestigious event. This experience serves as a foundation for the team’s future, instilling hope and determination among the players as they look to enhance their skills.
