Ratu Suliano Matanitobua, the Turaga Vunivalu na Tui Namosi, has issued a heartfelt invitation to new residents considering settling in Namosi, encouraging them to fully integrate into the province and its community. He noted a marked increase in the number of people moving into the Namosi corridor and extended a warm welcome to these newcomers.

While expressing openness to new residents, Ratu Suliano firmly asserted that illegal activities, particularly drug-related offenses, will not be tolerated as the nation grapples with an alarming rise in drug importation. He emphasized the importance of upholding the law to maintain the community’s integrity.

Anticipating substantial population growth in the next decade, Ratu Suliano highlighted the potential challenges that may arise if infrastructure and essential services are not adequately improved. He noted that critical utilities like water and electricity must be addressed, stating, “In the next 10 to 15 years we expect all these areas to be full.”

In addition to welcoming newcomers, Ratu Suliano urged them to respect the traditional customs and laws of the vanua and to embrace their newfound identity within the Namosi community. He emphasized the importance of understanding local practices, encouraging new settlers to engage positively for the well-being of themselves and their families.

With the support of traditional leaders, Ratu Suliano also underscored a commitment to ensuring that every child in the province has access to education—an issue frequently addressed during the Bose Vanua meetings. He insisted that Namosi’s village by-laws are essential and must be adhered to by all who choose to call the province home.

As Namosi prepares for a promising future, these efforts could enhance community cohesion and foster a respectful environment for both existing residents and newcomers.
