The FMF Nadi Bula Festival commenced yesterday evening at Prince Charles Park, officially opened by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Viliame Gavoka. In his address, Gavoka encouraged contestants and the wider Nadi community to embrace compassion and visionary leadership. This year’s festival theme, “Rebuilding Lives through Compassion and Charity,” aims to foster community unity through service and celebration.
DPM Gavoka emphasized that the festival participants are not just competitors but also emerging leaders who have already begun making impactful contributions to their communities. He thanked them for their dedication and remarked that their presence at the festival signifies their commitment to championing important causes.
He also highlighted the government’s commitment to Nadi’s development, noting an $8 million allocation in the 2025–2026 National Budget aimed at transforming Nadi into a model town—resilient, future-focused, and thriving. Gavoka reiterated the significance of Nadi as a key player in Fiji’s tourism sector, reminding residents of their role as ambassadors for the country.
As the event unfolds over the week, festivalgoers can look forward to cultural performances, community outreach initiatives, and fundraising activities, with contestants representing various sectors within Nadi and its surrounding districts. This inclusivity aligns with efforts from past festivals, which also focused on promoting social issues and community well-being, such as health awareness highlighted during similar events like the recent Hibiscus Festival.
The Nadi Bula Festival is seen as a beacon of hope, showing how local initiatives can bring about positive change and enhance community spirit. This year, with an emphasis on compassion and charity, the festival not only aims to entertain but also to address pressing social issues while fostering unity among the people of Nadi. The community’s active participation and the ongoing support from local businesses signal a bright future for tourism and solidarity within this vibrant town.
