The Ministry of Health and Medical Services, along with the Fiji Police Force, is currently investigating an incident involving seven guests at the Warwick Resort who became ill after consuming a cocktail at the establishment’s bar. These guests, aged between 18 and 56, were admitted to Sigatoka Hospital exhibiting symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and neurological issues. Due to the severity of their conditions, two individuals were subsequently transferred to Lautoka Hospital for further treatment.
In response to this situation, a team of health inspectors has been deployed to assist in the investigation at Sigatoka Hospital. Their objective is to identify any additional guests who may have developed similar symptoms from consuming the same beverage.
The Ministry of Health has urged the public to exercise caution regarding the food and drinks they consume, particularly during this festive season, emphasizing the importance of food safety.
This incident highlights the critical role of food and beverage safety in hospitality settings and reinforces the need for immediate action when health and safety concerns arise. It also serves as a reminder for establishments to adhere to health regulations to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
As the investigation unfolds, there is hope that a thorough inquiry will uncover the cause of the guests’ illness, ultimately leading to improved safety protocols in the hospitality industry. This proactive approach aims to ensure that all visitors can enjoy their experiences safely and without concern for their health.
