Mount Masada Readies for Coral Coast 7s Showdown!

Mount Masada, the shadow Fijiana 7s team, is preparing to compete at the 2025 McDonald’s Fiji Coral Coast 7s taking place at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka this week. The tournament will run from Thursday to Saturday and features a total of 12 women’s teams, all looking to make their mark.

As the team gears up for the challenge, they have engaged in rigorous training to enhance their physical fitness, skills, and teamwork. Senior player Verenaisi Ditatuvu has emphasized the dual importance of physical and mental preparation, stating, “We’ve been pushing ourselves in training, focusing on fitness and fine-tuning our skills.” The competition is expected to be intense, and Ditatuvu noted that being ready in every aspect is crucial.

The players have also worked on their defensive and attacking strategies, ensuring they are well-coordinated. “It’s important that we support each other on and off the field,” Ditatuvu explained, highlighting the team’s focus on camaraderie.

In addition to the physical training, the Mount Masada squad is also mentally preparing for the tough encounters that await them during the tournament. The event will serve as a critical trial for the players as they aim to secure spots on the Fiji Airways Fijiana squad for the upcoming Perth 7s scheduled for January 24-26.

The Coral Coast 7s is not only an opportunity for these players to showcase their talent but also a significant platform that highlights women’s rugby’s growing popularity and competitiveness in Fiji. The excitement surrounding the tournament serves as a beacon of hope for the future of women’s sports, with many anticipating inspiring performances and displays of skill that could pave the way for the next generation of female athletes.

Overall, this tournament marks a thrilling moment in women’s rugby, uniting teams and fans to celebrate the sport and encourage further development at both local and international levels.
