The Miss Fiji Pageant has extended an invitation to individuals concerned about its operations to submit formal complaints, emphasizing its commitment to open mediation and discussions aimed at addressing any grievances. Pageant Director Ana Tuiketei expressed surprise at the allegations that emerged following the announcement of Fiji’s representative for the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant.
Tuiketei noted that although these claims were unexpected, the organization is ready to engage constructively through established grievance procedures. All contestants and chaperones were informed about the pageant’s grievance redress mechanism, which provides a clear process for submitting concerns related to issues such as racism, bullying, or misconduct.
“We welcome the formal registration of any complaints, along with supporting evidence, so they can be assessed fairly and equally under our procedures,” Tuiketei stated. Additionally, the pageant has offered mediation as a way to resolve disputes, particularly those pertaining to contractual interpretations or misunderstandings. This option is explicitly outlined in contestant contracts to ensure that issues can be resolved transparently and amicably.
The Miss Fiji Pageant has also indicated its openness to hold roundtable discussions that would include concerned parties, medical professionals, and other stakeholders, should they prefer to explore dialogue outside of formal complaint mechanisms. Organizers reported that, as of now, no formal grievances have been lodged and no incidents of racism or bullying have been recorded since the pageant’s inception. However, they reiterated that any official complaint would be taken seriously and investigated in accordance with their policy.
This proactive stance reflects the pageant’s desire to foster a positive and inclusive environment. By encouraging open communication and addressing concerns head-on, the Miss Fiji Pageant aims to maintain its integrity and support all participants in this celebrated event.
