Weather Update

Attention, weather enthusiasts! We’re officially under a Heavy Rain Alert for the whole of Fiji. Grab your beach ball and think again!

Our dear old friend, that slow-moving trough of low pressure, has decided to linger around, showering Fiji with clouds and rain for the days ahead. So, if you had plans for a sunny getaway, let’s just say Mother Nature might have other ideas.

What’s in store for us before midnight tomorrow? Well, expect the sky to occasionally cry with heavy rain and throw in a few thunderstorms for good measure. Localized heavy downpours might turn your favorite low-lying spots into little swimming pools, so be cautious! Winds will dance around from the southeast to northwest, with some gusts that could put a wild hairdo to shame during those heavier falls. And let’s not forget those moderate seas, which might get a bit rowdy in squalls.

Now, let’s flash forward to Wednesday, when the rain decides to maintain its presence. Expect heavy showers and a few zaps of thunder, particularly over Vanua Levu and the northern Lau group. There will still be occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms around Kadavu, southern Lau, Lomaiviti, and the eastern parts of Viti Levu—basically, it sounds like an outdoor potluck that was mistakenly scheduled during a downpour. Elsewhere, things may be partly cloudy with a touch of afternoon or evening showers and the ever-popular thunderstorms making guest appearances.

For our beloved central regions like Navua, Suva, and Nausori: More rain, more thunder, and a chance of local flash floods—who doesn’t love a good water feature, right?

If you’re in Nadi, Lautoka, or Ba: Get your rain gear ready, as heavy showers are on the horizon. For those enjoying the coastal views at Sigatoka or the Coral Coast: You can expect a similar show of frequent rain and thunderstorms.

Tavua and Rakiraki, don’t think you’re in the clear—your forecast mirrors the general theme of rain and a side of thunder.

Now for our sunny Yasawa and Mamanuca group: While you might feel like the outskirts of a rainstorm, expect those occasional showers too!

Keep calm and carry on over in Labasa and Savusavu, where the rain won’t be shy to join in the fun on Wednesday either.

For Lau and Lomaiviti: You’re not off the hook—occasional rain and the possibility of some thunder will keep things lively. And Kadavu? Prepare for a sprinkle or two!

Lastly, if you’re in Rotuma, buckle up; a strong wind warning is in place, which means the waters are going to be quite the rollercoaster ride.

So, there you have it, folks! Grab your umbrellas and maybe an inflatable raft, because it looks like Fiji is in for a splash-tastic couple of days ahead!
