Weather Update
Brought to you from the ever-predictable National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi at the oh-so-appropriate hour of 10:45 am, Saturday, December 13, 2025.
Hold onto your umbrellas, folks! It’s raining cats, dogs, and possibly a few parrots over the whole of the Fiji group! Yes, a HEAVY RAIN ALERT is officially in effect, which means that your sun-lounging plans might need a little revising.
What’s going on, you ask? Well, a mischievous trough of low pressure has decided to hang out with us, bringing along a hefty supply of cloud and rain. This weather party is set to continue until at least next week, so get those rain jackets ready!
What can you expect before midnight? Occasional rain, which may turn heavy, and a sprinkle of thunderstorms that could have you questioning whether you left the oven on. This applies especially to the interior and northern parts of Vanua Levu (think Bua-Lekutu-Dreketi-Seaqaqa-Labasa-Namuka-Udu Point), as well as the interior, western, and northern sections of Viti Levu (hi there Momi-Nadi-Lautoka-Ba-Ra). The Yasawa and Mamanuca groups won’t escape either—sorry, but that’s the way the cookie crumbles!
And if you’re anywhere else, expect the same rainy shenanigans, especially in the afternoons and evenings. With all this rain, it looks like we’ll have flash floods in low-lying areas, so keep your floaties handy!
As for the winds, they’re switching between moderate to fresh northwest to northeast. Expect moderate to rough seas, as if the ocean is having an identity crisis!
Looking ahead to Monday: same story, different day—occasional rain, heavy at times, and a few thunderstorms will be the highlight of your day. So pack an umbrella and maybe a life jacket!
