The Sugar Cane Growers Fund (SCGF) has partnered with Oceania Hospitals Pte Limited (OHPL) to launch the SCGF Loyalty Program Agreement, aimed at enhancing access to quality and affordable healthcare for sugarcane farmers in Fiji. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Prof Biman Prasad, emphasized that the agreement signifies a collective commitment to improving the well-being of cane farmers.

Mr. Prasad highlighted the misconception that private hospitals primarily serve wealthy clients, stating that this collaboration demonstrates a different reality. He praised Oceania Hospitals for their dedication to social responsibility by providing cane farmers access to essential medical services.

Murgessan Pillay, CEO of OHPL, expressed that this agreement is just the beginning of a broader effort to make healthcare more inclusive for all Fijian citizens, particularly for sugarcane farmers. He acknowledged the importance of quality healthcare and the ongoing need for improvement in medical services available to Fijians.

Raj Sharma, CEO of SCGF, noted that this collaboration would significantly benefit ordinary cane farmers by offering them access to private hospital services and treatments. The partnership is part of a larger loyalty program initiative that aims to provide discounts from various partners for the farming community.

The three-year collaboration also aligns with SCGF’s sustainable development goals and national development objectives, addressing challenges in the healthcare sector. Sharma remarked that such partnerships could foster better engagement and lead to fruitful outcomes for the farming community.

This initiative reflects a promising step towards enhancing the healthcare landscape for sugarcane farmers, who are considered vital contributors to the Fijian economy. The hope is that these efforts will lead to improved health outcomes and sustainability within the agricultural sector.

In summary, the partnership between SCGF and OHPL signifies a meaningful move towards equitable healthcare access for sugarcane farmers, reinforcing their value in society and the economy while promoting sustainable development.
